Three years ago, I listed a townhouse apartment in Espoo.
The property was perfect for a family: three bedrooms, recently refurbished, located near good schools, in a peaceful neighborhood, yet with a short commute to Helsinki and other amenities.
So, what was so special about this listing?
For one, the seller wasn’t from Finland. Another unique aspect was that, out of the nine inquiries I received, eight were from expats. Unsurprisingly, the eventual buyer wasn’t the lone Finn.
I had worked with foreigners before—my very first real estate sale as an agent was to a Chinese investor—and I genuinely enjoy explaining the ins and outs of Finnish real estate transactions in English. But this experience got me thinking: Is there a Finnish realtor specialized in catering to international clients?
I Googled various keywords but found nothing. The niche was still unfilled.
That’s how the idea of helsinkiagent.com was born.
Now, a couple of years and many closed real estate sales later, it’s time to bring that idea to fruition.
